Anfänge des demokratischen Zentralismus. Große Revolution und Pariser Kommune
The beginnings of democratic centralism. The Revolution and the Paris Commune
To accompany its exhibition at the nGbK, this working group published a catalogue offering a visual documentation of the Paris Commune of 1871, plus three booklets with commentary and accompanying materials. This is the second booklet, reprinting lectures by French historians Albert Soboul and Jean Bruhat. The materials document the groundwork for the exhibition, reflecting both the group’s own study of the Commune and new work by international scholars published here in translation for the first time. The texts published in the booklet examine “the contradiction between the need for centralized power and the call of the masses for democracy in times of revolutionary upheaval.”
