Funktionen bildender Kunst in unserer Gesellschaft
Functions of fine art in our society, 1970
The basic research working group set out to explore the links between the aesthetic and society. Fine art, the group argued, should not be viewed in isolation, set apart from prevailing economic conditions and the ideology of the capitalist system, of which it is part. Art should play an applied, communicative role, using aesthetic means to highlight the functional constellations of social phenomena. As well as containing a large number of texts, the catalogue also uses various forms of visualization including sketches, graphics, fold-out diagrams, and illustrations.
In 1971, a second edition of Funktionen bildender Kunst in unserer Gesellschaft, printed on different paper, was published by Anabas Verlag.
