It is only a state of mind
Artistic positions that explore the threshold where science and pseudo - science meet, challenging notions of rational logic and objectivity: They investigate how our » state of mind «, and the patterns of perception and perspectives that arise from it, shape our assessment of what is real. Unbeholden to the power structures that determine what constitutes legitimate research, and who can conduct said research, they are free to steer our attention towards mystical and spiritistic objects of study and challenge areas of psychological research.
With an introduction to the subject, and to the work of the artists represented in the exhibition: Hilma af Klint, Marie Louise „Loïe“ Fuller, Annie Goh, João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva, Michal Heiman, Joachim Ko ester, Ofri Lapid, Susan MacWilliam, Matt Mullican, Lea Porsager, Patrick Rieve, Sarah Schönfeld, Rosemarie Trockel, Ute Waldhausen. It also features a small encyclopaedia in which the terms consciousness, belief, medium, truth, perception and doubt are subjected to critical scrutiny.
