THE MIDDLE IN NOWHERE
Art in the Underground between Hauptbahnhof and Cottbusser Platz
The Middle in Nowhere was the title of neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst’s international open Art in the Underground competition 2016 – 2017. Between Central Station and Hellersdorf, it asked how decisions are made in the ,centre’ that have an effect ,in the sticks’, spatially, socially and politically. Eight artworks were realised along the U5 line, mainly within the Hellersdorf housing estate in the outskirts of Berlin.
With artworks by Katrin Glanz, Claude Gomis & Saskia Köbschall, Laura Horelli, Anna Kowalska, Diana Lucas-Drogan, Ellen Nonnenmacher & Eva Randelzhofer, Various & Gould und Elizabeth Wood.
